After the withdrawal from competition of four tennis players, the organizers of the Brazil Open can confirm the names of the four replacement players. They are: Brazilian Ricardo Mello, Eric Taino from the USA, Ramon Delgado from Paraguay, and the Australian Todd Larkham.
The four players that withdrew from the event at Costa do Sauípe were Nicolas Kiefer from Germany, the Argentinean Mariano Zabaleta, David Sanguinetti from Italy and Mario Ancic from Croatia. Zabaleta and Ancic were both seeded players.
