It was no walkover, but Brazilian Júlio Silva is through to the main draw after beating Australian Jordan Kerr by 2 sets to 1 (2/6, 7/5, 6/0), in the last qualifying matches. Silva now has his sights set on the bigger games, and his next match against Werner Eschauer.
Meanwhile Brazilian Josh Goffi, who also has American citizenship, was beaten by 2 sets to 0 (7/6, 7/5) by the Chilean Paul Capdeville.
